The Marketing team brings together experts in all the communication disciplines: strategists, project coordinators, videographers, photographers, designers, writers and developers. We build campaigns that bridge the digital and the physical — and show the world what “Think and Do” means.

Creative Services

Creative Services executes strategic and creative development of marketing communications that support NC State University and its many units. This group also maintains the university’s brand and style guidelines. Creative Services works with the other University Communications and Marketing teams to provide campus peers with integrated communication solutions that include creation and consultation on web and digital communications, writing, editing and proofreading, marketing strategy, design, video and photography.

Marketing Content

Marketing Content leads development and execution of NC State’s brand strategy. Working with Web Communications and Creative Services, we create mass-market campaigns that merge television, radio, print and web outlets; targeted efforts that influence key NC State audiences; and joint projects with campus partners that raise the profile of NC State units and the university itself.

Web and Digital Strategy

Web and Digital Strategy provides leadership and strategic direction for NC State’s overall Web and Social Media presences. We operate the university’s homepage, second-level pages and various elements of the university’s enterprise website, in addition to several other sites that support the university’s strategic marketing and communication goals. We also provide assistance, support, coordination and strategic consultation for digital communications throughout the university.

April Norris
Executive Director of Marketing
April leads the university’s creative and marketing strategy teams which help develop, initiate and execute marketing communications, advertising, digital strategy and other major initiatives centrally and for partners across campus.

Alastair Hadden
Director of Marketing Content
Alastair directs the content strategy for NC State’s homepage and guides strategy and content development for multi-channel marketing communication campaigns and projects that build and sustain the university’s brand.

Mark McLawhorn
Creative Director of Marketing Communications
Mark leads creative direction for top-level university marketing communications projects and programs that directly support the university’s strategic plan and brand platform. He also draws cartoons.

Luis Chacon
Senior Director of Web and Digital Strategy
Luis serves as the university’s lead digital strategist, focusing on integrating digital strategy with results-based web marketing execution.
