University Communications, a unit of University Communications and Marketing, informs both internal and external audiences about NC State’s achievements in solution-driven research, interdisciplinary innovation, experiential education and partnerships with business and industry.
News Services develops and markets news articles and story ideas on faculty teaching, research and expertise for dissemination to print, broadcast and electronic media. We use methods including media releases, news tips, pitches to journalists and electronic distribution of stories via the web and social media. Our research blog, The Abstract, covers the innovative and problem-solving research conducted at NC State in a fun and informative way. Our office offers a TV studio and technical support for live or taped broadcast television interviews with NC State experts and administrators. We offer customized media relations training for faculty and staff, including practical advice on working with reporters, one-on-one coaching and advanced on-camera training in the TV studio.
Editorial Services leads efforts to engage key university stakeholders through a variety of media platforms, including publications, websites and e-newsletters. Our team develops news and feature content for both internal and external audiences and provides professional services such as writing, editing and communications counsel to clients across campus.
