Unbranded NC State Theme
An unbranded version of the NC State Theme is available for units that are not required to following NC State branding guidelines.
Who Qualifies?
Most units that are part of the university will need to continue using the regular, branded version of the NC State Theme. However, there are some units that follow other branding guidelines due to their funding model or inter-institutional nature.
There is not a set list of groups that are eligible to use the unbranded version of the theme. If your group is interested in accessing the unbranded functionality, submit a ticket by emailing wordpress@help.ncsu.edu.
The unbranded version of the NC State Theme is available in both the free tier and both paid tiers (pro and premium).
How Does it Work?
If your group qualifies for using the unbranded version of the NC State Theme, special functionality will be enabled that will allow you to change the site’s color palette, adjust its masthead and footer, and make other branding changes. The overall functionality and blocks available will match what is available in the branded NC State Theme. The unbranded version only differs in some cosmetic aspects.
Once the unbranded functionality has been activated on your site, you will be able to provide a new color palette using hex codes. You will also be able to adjust the header and footer display options.
Detailed documentation on how to implement these changes will be provided once the unbranded functionality is activated.
Are There Examples?
The unbranded version of the theme is still fairly new, so there aren’t many examples yet. However, the North Carolina Sea Grant site provides a good example of how to use the unbranded version of the NC State Theme.
