Vertical Video Block

Use Cases

This block is perfect for embedding a YouTube video that has a vertical orientation. Unlike a standard video embed, this block is optimized for sharing short-form video content created for YouTube Shorts. The block also allows you to introduce your video with a title and teaser copy, and features a myriad of colors for the block background.

Before uploading your video, there are a few important things to note:

YouTube videos	Currently the Vertical Video block only supports YouTube video embeds. Videos from other platforms will not work with the block.
Updating your video URL	When embedding the video URL, you will need to update the permalink to include /watch?v= in place of /shorts/. For example, https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VkjUDMtsgWg would become https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkjUDMtsgWg.
Video cover image	WordPress requires you upload a still JPG image to act as the video’s cover image.
Recommended image size	The dimensions of your image should be 844×1500 pixels (9:16 aspect ratio).
