There may be times when a site maintainer who is building content on a WordPress site does not want to make that content public immediately. This can occur when a maintainer is working on a page or post over an extended period of time, or when other people need to review the content before the maintainer makes it public. That is why WordPress provides the following three visibility options for both pages and posts:

Public: Visible to anyone who visits the site.

Private: Only visible to editors and site admins.

Password-protected: Protected behind a chosen password. Only those with the password can view the post or page.

The visibility of a page or post is set before it is published, but visibility can also be changed after publishing. Maintainers can adjust this setting through the document settings in the right-hand menu of a page or post.
